THS June Consultant of the Month

Dennis Bouldin, a night auditor, has been with THS for more than two years. With every assignment, he brings a steady presence, an understanding of hotel operations and the flexibility that task force work demands.

A night owl: Living life in reverse hours

If you’re looking for Dennis during the day, chances are he’s sound asleep no matter what‘s going on around him or outside his hotel window. A night auditor works while most of us sleep and he’s built a knack for adapting to the assignments. He says he can sleep through anything, including vacuuming, maintenance knocking down walls and loud lawn crews.

But when he is off the clock he puts on his exploring shoes. He likes to make the most of wherever he is, including new cities, new people and new food.

From the ballpark to the night shift

Dennis formerly worked at the Great American Ball Park, home of the Cincinnati Reds, handling multiple VIP hospitality suites. The perks of the job included VIP access, good pay and his own parking spot despite not owning a car.

For some it would have been a dream gig, but Dennis wasn’t a baseball fan and his interests were elsewhere. A hotel job he landed at a Westin during the off-season shifted his path, and he never went back.

One of 11 siblings, leader of the pack

Dennis is no stranger to responsibility. He grew up in Cincinnati, the oldest and only boy among 10 sisters! That upbringing shaped a lot of who he is today: reliable, thoughtful and always ready to wear many hats. Big brother, dad, counselor, coach and a virtual ATM are among the roles he’s played in his family. He says he learned quite a bit about women during those years and laughs about one key insight: Never buy cheap toilet paper when you have 10 sisters!

Task force life and words to live by

Some people crave stability. Dennis craves flexibility and the open road. With nothing to tie him down, he’s fully leaned into the task force lifestyle.

That means soaking up big cities and small towns alike, checking out live theater when he can and always sampling local food. A big fan of French fries, he’s even done a cross-country “tour de fry” personal taste test.

When asked to describe himself, he keeps it simple: “I’m a Libra with a great personality.”

His advice for anyone new to hospitality: “Expect the unexpected. Sometimes the job will change, and you’ll have to change with it. Everything happens for a reason, whether good or bad. Learn and grow from it.”

Each month THS presents a Consultant of the Month award to someone working in the field. In addition to this spotlight article in Transformation Post, the honoree receives a gift box and gift card.
