THS August Consultant of the Month
Jaime Magana, who has been part of the THS team since 2023, is an accomplished executive chef with a flair for culinary excellence and a heart for hospitality. From South Beach to Fort Lauderdale, his presence on property generates consistent praise and even media buzz. With each assignment, Jaime brings not only culinary skill but leadership, creativity and compassion.
From El Salvador to executive chef
Born and raised in El Salvador, Jaime’s passion for food began in his mother’s catering kitchen. After moving to the U.S., he trained under a Miami butcher before stepping into hotel kitchens. What followed was a distinguished career that includes roles at the former InterContinental Stephen F. Austin Hotel in Austin, Texas; The Palms Hotel & Spa in Miami Beach; the Beachwalk Resort in Hallandale Beach, Florida; GALLERYone, a DoubleTree Suites by Hilton Hotel, in Fort Lauderdale, Texas; and the Delta Sky Club at the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport. Jaime is currently a consulting chef for Crescent Hotels & Resorts.
Driven by passion, fueled by curiosity
Never one to settle, Jaime continuously seeks out new experiences and opportunities to grow. His resume includes standout events like the South Beach Food & Wine Festival in Miami, which he hosted twice; Chaine des Rotisseurs, an international gastronomic society that hosts events; Bubble Qs, which pair barbeque and champagne or sparkling wine; and Common Threads, which emphasize connection, learning and supporting specific causes. He also participated at a “stage” — typically an unpaid, temporary kitchen position — at the former Le Rive in Amsterdam, a two-star Michelin restaurant, under Chef Robert Kranenborg.
A leader who builds others up
For Jaime, success is as much about people as it is about plates. One of his most meaningful professional experiences was mentoring a team of individuals with disabilities, an experience that reinforced his belief that anyone can grow with the right support and mindset. Teaching and empowering others is what fuels him to keep raising the bar.
A chef who finds peace in the waves
When he’s not on assignment, you’ll find Jaime with his wife and their two dogs or by the ocean fishing or surfing. The sea inspires his creativity, much like his cuisine inspires those around him.
