THS April Consultant of the Month

Our April Consultant of the Month is Deanna Wilks Judkins, a 30-year hospitality veteran who is special to THS for many reasons. She was among the very first consultants to join THS in 2021 and four years later continues to work with us exclusively.

Deanna has accepted more than 28 sales and catering management assignments at 15 hotels across the country. She has a gift for communicating effectively, describing her style as straightforward and honest.

Culinary roots that grew into a hospitality career

Her interest in cooking led her to obtain a culinary degree, and she subsequently spent three years cooking at a hotel until she was asked to take on a front desk position. Hesitant at first, she succeeded, and that experience ultimately led her to other roles in the hotel, broadening her skills and setting her up for sales roles.

A formula for success

She credits her success to three things: relationships, partnerships and loyalty. And there is no room in her strong work ethic for “foolery and drama.” She arrives on property to help and add value, not to shake things up. She recommends collaborating with property management and asking questions on how best to help. She fits into the team, not the other way around, and even when she encounters challenging assignments, she always seeks to retain her composure and professionalism.

Her favorite piece of advice: “Embrace change. There is always a new season and a new opportunity ahead.”

Beyond the Job

Deanna, the youngest of three sisters, lives in Philadelphia to support her mother. She’s single, free to travel on assignment and values both the flexibility and purpose her work brings. Off the clock, she’s a woman of faith. She read Scriptures, enjoys gospel music and has been studying – often after working long shifts while on assignment – toward a degree in leadership and ministry through Grace Christian University, Grand Rapids, Michigan. In May, she expects to graduate summa cum laude, the highest level of academic distinction.

On her days off, Deanna assembles care packages and delivers them to the homeless in her community and volunteers at her church and other charitable organizations. The team at THS is so lucky to work with Deanna and inspired by the heart, drive and perspective she demonstrates on her assignments and in her personal life.

Each month THS presents a Consultant of the Month award to someone working in the field. In addition to this spotlight article in Transformation Post, the honoree receives a gift box and gift card.
