From the CEO’s desk: midyear musings

As we move through August, recent insights from industry forecasters like CoStar and Tourism Economics remind us that the hospitality industry is entering a more challenging stretch. At the 17th Annual Hotel Data Conference hosted by CoStar earlier this month, projections for 2025 and 2026 were adjusted downward. Demand, ADR and RevPAR all are expected to see modest declines.

STR President Amanda Hite put it plainly: “We’ve seen the best this year. The next six months are going to be tough unless you’re a luxury hotel.”

While these headwinds are real — slowing consumer spending and international travel and tightening economic conditions — there are also encouraging signs. CoStar’s early August data shows ADR and RevPAR inching upward with strong performance in event-driven markets, providing a spark of optimism.

At THS, we see this as a moment to double down on what we do best:

  • Strategic support: staying agile so we can meet the evolving needs of our hotel partners.
  • Operational excellence: helping properties maintain exceptional guest experiences even in leaner times.
  • Targeted recruitment: providing specialized talent for segments like luxury and event markets that continue to show strength.
  • Future readiness: positioning ourselves to scale quickly when the industry rebounds.

The months ahead will require focus, adaptability and teamwork. I’m confident in our ability to rise to the occasion because of the people behind THS — you. Every assignment, placement and client conversation reflects our values of partnership, integrity, excellence and service.

Thank you for your dedication and for continuing to make THS the trusted name hotels turn to in both challenge and opportunity.
