From the CEO’s desk: June reflections from NYC

Earlier this month, I had the tremendous opportunity to attend the 47th Annual NYU International Hospitality Investment Forum at the New York Marriott Marquis in New York City. Over the course of three days, I met with industry leaders, joined insightful panels and engaged in thoughtful conversations about the state and future of hospitality.

The resounding theme I heard? Resilience.

Despite continued macroeconomic uncertainty, from trade policies and tariffs to questions around AI adoption, our industry remains deeply rooted in optimism. While there was open acknowledgment of the challenges ahead, especially in the pace of deals and investment activity, there also was a shared understanding that hospitality has always been a long game.

One of the most consistent and urgent topics raised throughout was labor. The industry is still feeling the ripple effects of the pandemic on the workforce. There is a clear gap between the talent needed and the talent available, especially when it comes to experienced, service-driven professionals who can step in immediately and make an impact. Leaders share that while they are seeing steady demand from guests, attaining quality service levels without the right staffing solutions continues to be a top concern.

That concern reinforces the very reason THS exists. We are not just filling roles, we are solving for business continuity, guest experience and operational excellence. The need for flexible, capable and professional staffing support is only growing, and we are proud to stand at the forefront of that solution.

On a more positive note, U.S. hotel performance metrics are holding steady and supply remains low, easing pressure on operators to fill every room. Meanwhile a Deloitte consumer survey presented at the forum showed a promising trend: people are reprioritizing travel across all generations. Consumers are spending less on material goods, but they’re not cutting back on travel, indicating that while confidence may waver, the desire for experience remains strong.

This presents a significant opportunity for all of us at THS. During a time when our clients face unpredictability, our consistency, service and ability to deliver top-tier talent truly sets us apart.

Let’s continue to lead with excellent, integrity and partnership. We are built for this moment and I am proud to work alongside such a committed and talented team.
